Even with no clouds I really enjoyed my trip to Death Valley, more of a scouting trip than anything. I will hopefully be returning in March for a second look, with a better idea of where I want to shoot at what time of day. The Mesquite Dunes is a great place to shoot along with Zabriskie Point and all the usual icons. There are so many places to visit and they are pretty wide spread, it makes for a long warm mid day to explore, temperatures hovered around 60 F in the day to freezing at night, not unusual for Dec/Jan.

The race Track is a spot I didn't have a chance to visit, but I will be sure too on my next trip

South east of Lone Pine by about an 1 1/2 hour drive, it works well to combine the trip with the Alabama Hills, for a week of shooting, with many Eastern Sierra locations near by one could spend quit a bit of time exploring this area.
