I love shooting telephoto landscapes, some times the light for an entire wide scene may not be ideal, this is where a 70-200mm or longer helps isolate those areas that do have good light. It also allows you to find new images from an iconic location that may not have been shot, my favorite lens for this is Canons 300 f/2.8 super telephoto, although its very difficult to move around in the field.

So don't restrict yourself to shooting super wide angle all the time, keep a good telephoto lens handy for when an opportunity appears. I have frequently come across great wildlife opportunity's when shooting landscapes, a 70-200 or longer is great for those times when you come across a bear , moose or mountain goat browsing on foliage.
